Sunday School
Sunday School
The backbone of Lighthouse Baptist Church is the Sunday School Program. Sunday School is a generic term used to describe the small groups that meet each week for Bible study and to enjoy fellowship. Children’s classes are divided by age and adults are grouped by various interests and life stages. There is a place for everyone at Lighthouse Baptist Church.
Nursery
Two excellent nurseries are available for the Sunday School hour. Babies from birth to 18 months are well cared for in the Baby Nursery. Each child has its own bed and will be fed and kept happy and clean while her parents are in an adult group.
Children from 18 months through two years enjoy their time in the Toddler nursery. Here they will sing songs, learn about God and play in a spacious and clean environment.
Preschool
Three and four year old children are a part of the Preschool class. They learn from well-planned lessons and make handwork take home projects each week.
Primary I & II
Primary I is for kindergarten and first grade students and Primary II is for second and third grade students. These two classes are taught great Bible stories and foundational truths about God’s love and Christ’s life. The goal is to help children at this stage to grasp the reality of God our Creator.
Junior Boys & Junior Girls
This is the only level, (grades 4-6), at which the youth are separated by gender. Learning is accelerated and influence is critical at this age. Ladies teach the young girls while men teach the boys. Our teachers are carefully selected so that the children have the proper role models and to ensure that only those with the highest character and background work with our youth. It is at this level that the boys and girls are learning the principles that God uses to govern His world. They are taught how a loving God will bless their obedience.
Jr. High and Sr. High Teens
Students from 7th through 9th grade meet in the Jr. High department. This is a critical time in life as the transition to a teenager brings a whole new world of issues to bear on a young person’s life. The Jr. High Class is a place where young teens can begin to grow up with a very Godly influence and positive peer environment.
Students form 10th through 12th grade meet in the Sr. High department. These teens are rapidly growing up with jobs, cars, and a host of new influences. This is the time to grow deep roots into church that will stand the test of an upcoming graduation. While statistics show that a majority of teens leave church after graduation at LBC over the last ten years we are significantly beating those numbers. Two main reasons contribute to this success. The teens are taught practical convictions from God’s Word that they can govern their lives by and they are involved in ministry and serving so that they have a reason to keep coming back.
